The City of Lambertville, in partnership with Fisherman’s Mark and the Lambertville Human Rights Council, is hosting an important Know Your Rights event on January 13th at 7:00 PM at the Phillip L. Pittore Justice Center (ACME Theater).
This event is specifically designed for our Latino immigrant community, aiming to provide essential information about immigrant rights and actionable steps to take if detained by ICE.
Speakers for the event include:
- Andrew Nowick, Mayor of Lambertville
- Lt. Robert Brown, Chief of Police
- Heidy Roux, Immigrant Rights Action Advocate
These knowledgeable leaders will offer critical insights into navigating the complexities of immigration policies while addressing questions and concerns from attendees.
Why This Event Matters
Immigrants face unique challenges, especially during times of policy reform. With immigration policies undergoing significant changes starting January 20th, this event will help individuals understand their rights and how to protect themselves and their families. By taking the right steps, immigrants can work toward a resolution that best fits their circumstances.
What You’ll Gain
Attendees will leave with practical tools and support, including:
- A workshop to prepare necessary documentation for validating rights in case of deportation.
- Affidavits for U.S.-born minors of undocumented parents to protect them from being placed under DCP&P custody.
A Message to Our Immigrant Community
Misinformation often fuels fear and uncertainty, but Lambertville is committed to being a safe, welcoming community. This event reinforces our commitment to supporting and empowering immigrants by providing accurate information and resources.
We hope to see you on January 13th as we come together to ensure every member of our community feels informed and supported.
