Fisherman’s Mark proudly collaborates with both the Princeton Child Development Institute (PCDI) and The Next Step Programs (TNS) to support and empower individuals with diverse needs. These partnerships exemplify the organization’s commitment to fostering inclusion and forging new community connections.
PCDI, established in 1970, is a private non-profit dedicated to providing comprehensive behavior analytic services for individuals with autism. Its mission is to deliver effective, science-based interventions and to extend treatment resources both nationally and internationally. PCDI’s programs include early intervention, preschool, K-12 education, adult life skills, and community-based residential services. The institute’s innovative research and treatment models have set benchmarks in autism care.
Similarly, Fisherman’s Mark works with The Next Step Programs (TNS) to support young adults with disabilities transitioning from high school. Founded in 2015, TNS offers community-based programs that provide education, independent living skills, and social involvement. The Explore program, recognized by Pennsylvania’s Office of Developmental Programs, includes various engaging volunteer projects that help participants develop new skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.
One challenge both groups face is that its participants require tailored experiences rather than a “one size fits all” approach. Fisherman’s Mark’s Volunteer Coordinator, Nick Halladay, excels in creating a supportive environment that ensures volunteer opportunities are accessible and inclusive. This thoughtful approach makes each volunteer experience meaningful and effective for all the participants.
Jennifer Williford, Executive Director of Fisherman’s Mark said, “Our partnerships with PCDI and TNS highlight the importance of community-based programs that support individuals with disabilities.”
Volunteering with Fisherman’s Mark provides both PCDI and TNS participants with a sense of purpose, pride, and community. These experiences not only enhance their personal growth but also highlight the impactful role of community-based programs in supporting individuals with disabilities. The partnerships between Fisherman’s Mark, PCDI, and TNS demonstrate the powerful outcomes achieved through collaboration and dedication to fostering inclusive and supportive environments.
